Do I want a better job? This was the question I asked myself. I thought about the time I had. How would it be possible to work as much as I do and make improvements? The invention of online classes made it possible for me to pursue better. Online courses are the go to. They are the hidden to secret to the success stories that continue to emerge.
I dreaded the return to a classroom because I felt a lot of it was a waste of time. I preferred to learn on my own, quickly, efficiently, and in less time.
I finished my Master’s degree online a couple months ago. I weighed my pros and cons before I made the leap into uncertainty. The hesitation was the length of time I spent out of school. I feared that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the information. Furthermore, I worked a full-time job and struggled with personal problems. My father passed away shortly after I enrolled into the Masters degree program. I was the daughter of first generation immigrants that worked in factories, the heat, the cold, and worked hard for their money.
The death of my dad was devastating, but it was one of the things that kept me going to finish. His strength during the years he was alive made me understand this life is a journey. Despite the difficult jobs he had, he came to the US with nothing. With hard work, he was able to buy a home, save money, and live his dreams. I remembered the sacrifices he made to ensure that I had a brighter future. As sad as this story may be, it has a light at the end of the tunnel. He used to tell me in Spanish.
“Termina tu carerra,” which means “finish your career,” in English. What he meant by this phrase was that we shouldn’t settle for less. You should finish what you started especially because it leads to better. This translates into the education your search for. It doesn’t matter where you start. It’s how you finish. When I was one the fence about whether or not to pursue my Masters degree, I thought about what it was that I wanted.
Why I Changed My Mind to Pursue Online Education
What made me change my mind? I changed my mind when I realized that life is about improving ourselves and finding a mission we can feel passionate about. After I completed my Masters degree, I didn’t want to stop there. I wanted more. I had a passion for improving myself. It was easier now then ten years ago. As online classes become more accessible and more acceptable, people are able to improve their skill sets. It’s an remarkable thing. There is no reason why you should settle.
Employers Prefer Online Training
The future is here. Times change and the expectations do too. The workforce is a competitive place. Your skills are what help you stand out from the crowd. I didn’t stop at my Online Master’s Degree. Additionally, I earned a certification in Online Medical Billing & Coding. I remember ten years ago how difficult it was to find an online program that wasn’t looked down on by employers. However, the times have changed. Employers prefer their students to earn certifications online because it shows their drive to learn.
Should You Pursue a Certification or Degree Online?
It depends what you are searching for. You have the flexibility to improve without putting your life on hold. This is what I learned. Online classes make it possible for real-hard working people to find their place. I find that online classes are affordable too. I completed my Online Medical Billing & Coding class for $1000. It may seem like a lot, but if you look at the return on investment, the average Medical Biller, earns an impressive salary of $50,000.
